Street construction be damned, Harwood Grill — the upscale casual steak and burger spot from industry vets Raymond Gibson and chef Craig Bianco — is up and running in the old 60 Degrees Mastercrafted spot in River Oaks. The massive street repairs in front of the restaurant were sited as one reason 60 Degrees shut down. Maybe Harwood will have better luck.
Currently Harwood offers dinner nightly (3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.) and lunch only on the weekends (starting at 11:00 a.m.). It looks like happy hour is also in full swing. Perhaps when (if) the construction clears they’ll offer lunch during the week.
The menu is very similar to 60 Degrees — featuring HeartBrand beef. Chef Craig Bianco offers seven cuts of Akaushi steaks along with some special beef dishes and burgers. From a look at Facebook, there are also quite a few Italy-inspired dishes. You can also buy beef to go, by the pound, or cut to your specifications. Although the interior has been remodeled, it is still an upscale restaurant with table service, a pleasant bar area and a nicely curated wine list. Best of all, the patio facing Westheimer Road is intact and ready for outdoor dining. Check the website for more information.
