When half your opening team @ThePastryWar gets food poisoning, you've got no choice: opening delayed one week. Pass the mezcal.

Alba Huerta and Bobby Heugel were all set to open Clumsy Butcher's latest bar, The Pastry War, on August 6. But yesterday Heugel tweeted that half of his staff is sick with food poisoning, so the opening will have to be delayed one week. An intensive staff training program indicates that this will be the elegantly rolled r's kind of tequila bar, not your run-of-the-mill margarita joint. There won't be a soft opening, since they plan on welcoming the public from day one.
Another exciting development for Huerta: her Lower Washington Avenue bar Julep will be opening this fall, city permits allowing. A brief hiccup in construction caused a frustrating setback, but the mixing maven says they're back on schedule and excited to open later this year.
