Fat, fluffy flour tortillas stuffed with chorizo and potatoes might be among the best values in Houston at this tiny 37-year-old spot which will soon be making a move.
Reader Andy Ramzel says: "Señor Díaz and his great staff make the best breakfast croissants in town (Mexican omelet inside another-worldly plain croissant). Enjoy it with cinnamon coffee ground and mixed by a family member in Mexico, and finish your meal with an almond tart or almond croissant. His son, Robert, will check you out with a smile at the end of your meal. We try to only go once every weekend."
You'd be remiss not to order the massive, plate-covering fluffy pancakes at this breakfast-centric spot. Also, the hash browns are made with fresh potatoes and the coffee is a nice break from Starbucks.
Reader Susan Terry recommends this tiny Mexican spot on Fountain View. It doesn't get points for decor, but that hardly matters when you taste the hand-made corn tortillas and nopales tacos.
Sauseda says they make "incredible baleadas. They're like giant tacos with egg, avocado and other fixings. Tasty!" Another reader mentioned the place for its cheap, authentic Honduran food.
Sauseda tells Eater: "Weekends are packed at this Montrose institution but get a few breakfast tacos to go and skip the wait! Chorizo and egg and potato and egg are favorites on flour tortillas you can add beans and cheese if you like! Get the green sauce!"
