No Go on Texas Oysters

oysters.jpgThe Texas Department of State Health Services banned the harvest of Texas oysters earlier this week due to a red tide outbreak. Eating oysters contaminated with the algae that causes red tide can cause serious health problems and even death. Yet another crisis that can be attributed to the drought, the red tide is a result of too much salt in the water where oysters are found. [KPRC]
