Houston's Food Deserts

joev.jpgAlthough there are plenty of grocery stores going up throughout the city, food deserts here are still an ongoing problem. A few areas that still need help are: "Sunnyside, Independence Heights, Kashmere and the Third and Fifth Wards," but the City of Houston is looking for a solution. Currently, they are working with a non-profit called The Food Trust to find ways to get grocers to open in low-income neighborhoods. Some pioneers in the movement are Joe V's (by HEB) and Fiesta.
