The Texas-wide cooking competition, Chefs Under Fire announced contestants from all three regional cities today. The live-cooking competition starts with four regional chefs each from the Dallas, Houston and Austin areas. The three regional winners then move on to the finals to compete for the state title.
Houston is represented this year by Emmanuel Chavez of San Jacinto College North Campus, Anthony Elumn of Rice University, Harold Wong of Azuma Sushi and Robata Bar and Christina Lee of Central Market Austin Cooking School, who was the overall Winner of Chefs Under Fire 2010. So how is Christina Lee considered Houston-area if she works in Austin?
Since Lee won last year's competition, she is automatically guaranteed placement in the preliminary rounds according to a spokesperson for Chefs Under Fire. Originally from Houston, she chose to compete here so her family could attend the September 25 regional competition at the Rice University East Servery.
