Chef Rucker Apologizes for Insulting Tweet in a Big Way

New, 5 comments

Eater told you about the massive Twitter fallout in the Houston food community initiated by an insulting tweet from Randy Rucker last night, and today, he's apologizing. In a very, very big way.

In a post on his blog today, Rucker writes about his struggle with alcohol and comes to terms with his erratic behavior online last night. Here's an excerpt from the post.

My latest comments surrounding the group of hospitality professionals from the Houston area that donated their time, money & efforts to those in need from the recent wild fires throughout Texas is unexplainable to me. I don’t know why I chose the words I did. I can’t explain why I felt the way I did but I do know that the things I said did no one any good. [...] I am however very sorry for the things I said and truly hope that I can one day can be forgiven. I know I can’t change the past and for some strange reason wouldn’t want to but I do know I can be the one in charge of my own future.
