Buffalo Bayou Brewing Releases First Beer Today

It's finally launch day for Houston's newest microbrewery Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co, which has been pushing to gather all the permits and get the beer in the tanks for months. A preview tasting in December revealed that founder Rassul Zarinfar and brewer Ryan Robertson are looking to explore untraditional elements in the flavor profiles of their beer, including a Gingerbread Stout and Hibiscus Wit.

Their flagship beer, a "copper" ale named 1836, will be tapped today at launch parties across town. Join Zarinfar at Little Woodrow's in Rice Village at 6pm, Kelvin Arms at 8pm or Hans Bier Haus at 10pm for the fledging brewery's first tapped kegs. You can also catch Buff Brew at the Petrol Station's One You Go Black event on Saturday at 2pm and at Anvil at 4pm on Saturday for a brewery specific event.

Starting Saturday, about a dozen more bars will be tapping kegs around town. Zarinfar hopes to have kegs of the Gingerbread Stout widely available sometime in February.

Tapping kegs on Saturday:
Benjy's on Washington
Down House
Flying Saucer (both downtown and Sugar Land)
Jackson's Watering Hole
Kelvin Arms
Kung Fu Saloon
Liberty Station
Little Woodrow's Rice Village
Onion Creek
Porch Swing

Tapping next week:
Canyon Creek
Cedar Creek
Grand Prize
Petrol Station
Queen Vic
Ziggy’s (both locations)
