At a press conference today, Houston mayor Annise Parker announced that Houston Restaurant Weeks raised $1,222,735 for the Houston Food Bank. Chefs and servers may not always enjoy the crowds that flood into restaurants during the month of August, but the Food Bank provides three meals for every $1 it takes in, which means the event isn't likely to be shortened anytime soon.
