While the Burger Guys new location downtown may be drawing the most attention from burger fanatics this week, the first outpost of national chain Elevation Burger also opened on Wednesday. The name refers to the restaurant's goal of "elevating" the dining experience. They do that by serving organic meat, refraining from unnecessary noise (no music or TV in the dining room) and, shockingly, calling out orders by name instead of number. Yes, it's a chain restaurant that treats its customers like people.
CultureMap's Sarah Rufca has already visited. She found the burger itself a little bland but praised the fries, which are fried in olive oil.
Rufca puts Elevation Burger ahead of the fast food restaurants that are just on the other side of 59, but whether it can compete with Houston burger institution Becks Prime, which is located just a little farther north, remains to be seen.
