Eater has learned that wine bar and restaurant Block 7 Wine Company served its final meal Saturday night. This news came despite being recently named by OpenTable users as having one of the top 100 most notable wine lists in the country.
Although a solid location near the Washington corridor should have helped it draw customers, the restaurant struggled to find its identify. Originally conceived as both a restaurant and wine retailer, Block 7 tried both a wine bar and cocktail-oriented concepts before finally closing. No word on the future of the space, but it will likely attract interest quickly.
