Today's category in the 2012 Eater Awards is Bartender of the Year. Of course, all of them make delicious drinks: either classics or their own creations. While one of those drinks may be a personal favorite, which would guide your vote, for others, choosing who to vote for comes down to one's experience interacting with the contenders. Does the bartender remember your name, or, at least what you like drink? Does he or she gauge your mood and decide whether to spend a couple extra minutes asking about your day? Do you feel welcome even when you're by yourself? These things matter, dammit, and a good bartender knows that.
Here's how the voting works across the board: Eater editors have named nominees for each of five major categories: Chef of the Year, Bartender of the Year, Restaurant of the Year, So Hot Right Now and Stone Cold Stunner. Eater readers will vote, narrowing the nominees to three finalists. From those three finalists, the Eater editorial team will select a winner. Ready to play your part? This poll will be open for 24 hours; voting irregularities will be strictly policed.
