Tintos owner Alberto Alfonzo tells Eater that he plans to close his tapas restaurant on December 31 and reopen as PESCA: World Seafood one week later. PESCA will feature seafood preparations from Mexico, Asia, Spain, Italy and the Caribbean that Alfonzo has learned in his 16 year career.
Alfonzo explains that Houstonians had trouble embracing tapas, writing "Not many concepts or cultures promote 'sharing' their meals at restaurant tables, and it became hard to teach our guests to enjoy sharing tapas and take their time dining with us." He says Tintos will reopen in a smaller, yet-to-be-determined location later in 2013.
