Here's a look inside Brooklyn Athletic Club, which opens tonight in the space formerly occupied by Zimm's Little Deck. Since Glass Wall proprietor Shepard Ross announced BAC in July, there has been excitement about the project. That only increased when Ross announced he'd be reuniting with chef Jeff Axline, who worked at both Glass Wall and BRC. True to those roots, Axline's menu features kicked-up comfort classics like pasta bolognese and mac and cheese.
The space itself is dominated by the "BACyard," which features lanes for bocce and horseshoes as well as a grassy area for badminton or volleyball. In the front, there are fire pits and a croquet court. The dining room is long and narrow with some whimsical decorative touches.
Brooklyn Athletic Club is open for dinner starting tonight. Lunch service will follow shortly.
