Pastry Chef Chris Leung to Open Ice Cream Shop

In a press release issued today, Kata Robata pastry chef Chris Leung revealed he'll be adding a retail outlet for his Cloud 10 Creamery ice cream business. The shop will open in the second quarter of next year in Hanover Rice Village, which is the mixed-use development that will already be home to second locations of Italian restaurant Coppa and Boomtown Coffee. In a twist, Leung says the shop will center around an open kitchen.

In a June interview with Eater Houston, Leung explained his philosophy on ice cream, "I just want to do it right. The most important thing is the product and putting my own spin on it. That way it's a unique product that nobody else has."

Cloud 10 Creamery is pleased to announce that it will be opening its first retail location during the second quarter of 2013. Cloud 10 will occupy approximately 1200 square feet in the Hanover Rice Village, a mixed-use development currently under construction at 5211 Kelvin, between Dunstan and Morningside. The new location will showcase a new concept of ice cream dessert shops, centered around an open kitchen. Cloud 10 is a business venture partnership between Chef Chris Leung and his business partner, Christopher Balat of Balcor Hospitality.

Chef Leung says "Cloud 10 is more than just about ice cream, at this new location we will be doing things rarely experienced in the frozen desert world. Being apart of something new and original in Houston is very exciting to me." The new location will bring a wide variety of frozen desserts according to Mr. Balat, "We are very excited to expand our wholesale operation to the retail side.Chef Leung has a heart for innovation and we share the same vision to bring something different to Houston, something more than just an ordinary ice cream shop."
