SUGAR LAND— Aura Brasserie has completed its move to a new location in Sugar Land Town Square and opened for dinner last Saturday December 22. The French restaurant has earned praise from Chronicle critic Alison Cook for its "French sensibility and American wit." Aura's opening continues the evolution of Town Square into a dining destination alongside Guru Burgers, BLU and The Flying Saucer. [15977 City Walk Sugar Land, TX 77479]
RIVER OAKS— Corner Table, the new restaurant from former Ruggles chef Bruce Molzan, will open for lunch and dinner beginning Saturday at 11:00 a.m. The menu has a range of options, but the pizzas coming from the wood burning over look like a good place to start. Check out last week's Plywood Report for more information. [2736 Virginia St., Houston, TX 77098]
MONTROSE— According to a post on the restaurant's Facebook page, Pizza L'Vino will begin a soft opening today at 4:00 p.m. The menu will be limited to pizza, wine and beer, with appetizers, salads and more to follow next week. [544 Waugh Drive, Houston, TX 77019]
CLEAR LAKE— Nobi Public House opened last week. The restaurant brings together Vietnamese food and craft beer. As there is a dearth of craft beer options down south, it should find an audience. Check out the menu. [241 E Nasa Rd 1 Webster, TX 77598]
UPPER KIRBY— According to a post on its Facebook page, Fat Bao is targeting this Sunday December 30 for its opening. Judging by the pictures, the restaurant will serve Chinese-style steamed buns with fillings that run the gamut from pork to ice cream. Looks like a fun riff on the David Chang-style buns that the Eatsie Boys have with their pork snuggies. [3419 Kirby Dr., Houston, TX 77098]
