Only a Week Old, Pass Already Earning Raves

Although it's only been officially open since last Tuesday, The Pass, the fine-dining, more conceptual half of The Pass & Provisions, is already earning raves from diners. Local food writer J.C. Reid, whose work can regularly be found on 29-95, took to his personal blog to praise his dining experience there last week, writing "That the conception and technical execution of the dishes I sampled were the best I've experienced in Houston, and probably Texas." In the comments, he calls the $95 price for eight courses "The deal of the century."

Matt Chow revived his mostly dormant roflhouse blog for this set of food porn from his trip to The Pass.

Finally, there's this line from one Eater tipster who wrote that "Seriously, the truffle egg is slap your mama 50 times over." Strong words.
