Roasted Oysters on Saturday; Grilled Lobster Next Sunday

HEIGHTS— Chef Randy Rucker will be hosting an oyster roast at Kaboom Books from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. as part of Saturday's Lights In The Heights festivities. The event will also feature new beers from the upcoming Brewery Incubator project. As Rucker says in a press release about oyster season, "I can't think of a better way to celebrate that than to slurp oysters with friends & family & rinse 'em down with cold beer & punch!" MONTROSE— Shmaltz Brewing Co has selected craft beer bar Hay Merchant as one of its "Chosen Bars." To celebrate, Hay Merchant will tap 18 different Shmaltz kegs on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., including many that have never been released in Houston before. See this post for the full list. SHEPHERD SQUARE— L'Olivier executive sous chef Kevin Bryant has started a side gig at McElroy's Pub. Every other Sunday, including this one December 16, he's grilling lobsters for only $14. There are burgers ($6) and sausages ($5) for those who don't dig on shellfish. It starts at 1:00 p.m. and goes until they're sold out, usually around 7:30. [Eating Our Words]
