So a famous Mexican chef with some very unique facial hair, of whom Houston Press food critic Katharine Shilcutt refers to as the Latin American Anthony Bourdain, has opened a restaurant here in Houston over the weekend. La Fisheria, co-owned by Latin American reality television star and chef Aquiles Chávez, is "chef-driven" and "could eventually be one of the best 'upscale' Mexican restaurants in town." Chávez and his crew, citing their "mounting concerns over the safety of themselves and their families in Mexico," are planning on making Houston a permanent home. [EOW]
