Pondicheri's chai pie was the only Houston entry in Grub Street's "101 of America's Most Crazy-Awesome New Desserts," alongside tonka bean ice cream from Chicago and king cake donuts in New Orleans. The pie is made from crushed Parle-G cookies, a layer of caramel and a "cold and creamy" chai filling with whipped cream on top. Somehow, a business in Los Angeles known as Beer Belly got the spotlight for fried Twinkies and pardon us for saying so, but that's definitely Houston's steez they stole. [Grub Street]
