Alice Waters Wire

alice%20waters.jpgIf you missed the queen of local food and proprietor of Chez Panisse earlier this week, you still have a chance to see her in the flesh. Alice Waters will be on hand to break ground at a new City of Houston community garden, located on Washington Avenue next to the tunnel under the I-45 overpass (just in case she needed a reminder that this isn't picturesque California) at 2 p.m. today. According to a press release, the City is "returning a previously unused and unattractive space into a working garden that will beautify the area, provide opportunities for learning, recreation, and exercise, and yield fresh produce for many years to come."
