Local and sustainable food pioneer, Alice Waters, is totally fine getting down and dirty (and walking a whole lotta urban miles to eat Mexican seafood). In town this week for a lecture for The Progressive Forum, Waters hung around to help break ground at an Urban Harvest and City of Houston community garden where "employees have planted and will maintain and harvest the produce grown there."
As you can see, Mayor Annise Parker was also on hand to get a little dirty and plant a few tomatoes.
