One of the few restaurants opening this year to remain on schedule, a press release hot off the wire tells us that Oxheart will open March 15 and begin taking reservations (up to two weeks in advance) on March 13.
The project from chef/pastry chef/sommelier trio of Justin Yu, Karen Man and Justin Vann is committed "to utilizing Houston’s regional farms, ranches, and coastal fishers will create food truly unique to the Texas Gulf Coast region."
To be more detailed, expect the "menu to highlight products from old friends such as Utility Research Garden, Louisiana Foods, and Revival Meats as well as goods from newly formed relationships at Three Sisters Farm, Emile St. Garden, and Augustus Ranch."
If you want to know more (and you know you do), here's the full press release below.
After many trials, tribulations, and successes in the building of their first business, chefs Justin Yu and Karen Man and Sommelier Justin Vann are excited to announce the imminent opening of Oxheart Restaurant. While the remodeling process has been a trying, yet educational journey, Oxheart has slowly transformed into a modern-industrial space. With the help of designer Gin Braverman of Gin Designs, Oxheart highlights the natural beauty of its red brick and soaring windows of its space in the historic Erie City Iron Works building. Alongside Houston’s local artisans, Oxheart literally has been hand-crafted; with tables made of reclaimed wood, plates formed by a local potter, and special table knives forged in the Heights not ten minutes from their front door, Oxheart is highlighted with many subtle details. With these helping hands and artistic minds, Oxheart truly stands to be one of the most unique spaces in the city of Houston.
Chef Justin Yu’s commitment to utilizing Houston’s regional farms, ranches, and coastal fishers will create food truly unique to the Texas Gulf Coast region. With the boom of products from late winter and early spring, expect the Oxheart menu to highlight products from old friends such as Utility Research Garden, Louisiana Foods, and Revival Meats as well as goods from newly formed relationships at Three Sisters Farm, Emile St. Garden, and Augustus Ranch. Oxheart’s close-knit, four-person kitchen team will be focused on creating Houston’s most delicious and thought-provoking meal.
Sommelier and General Manager Justin Vann has designed a concise list of varying beverages focused on unusual and complimentary flavors, and beverage selections highlight his commitment to creating flavors rather than showcasing labels. He and his staff of one also have a dedication to taking the intimidation out of high-end dining, allowing Oxheart to be a vibrant, fun place to eat.
Oxheart will open for business to the public on Thursday, March 15th and will start taking reservations on Tuesday, March 13th at 12 pm. Reservations will be taken up to two weeks in advance.
