Cafe Luz Has Closed For the Summer

Late last night on her blog, Lucrece Borrego of Cafe Luz announced that the restaurant and coffee shop has closed for the summer (see update below). She explains in her post that the cafe had taken too much time from her primary responsibility of running Kitchen Incubator, which fills the back part of Cafe Luz's space on Franklin St. Throughout its short life, Cafe Luz has housed everything from pop up dinners to steak nights and, briefly, a downtown outpost of The Burger Guys.

As for what's next, Borrego reveals that she and partner Jesus Acosta have spent the past year immersing themselves in the world of craft beer. Towards that end, they have started a new endeavor they are calling Project Brew. While the exact details of Project Brew are not yet known, Borrego has posted pictures of brewing equipment to Facebook and is offering to conduct presentations for any brewing clubs that are interested in learning more.

UPDATE: After being contacted by Cafe Luz, they have clarified that they are only closed for the summer to launch Project Brew. The space will reopen and continue to serve coffee when it does. Eater apologizes for the error.
