Barbed Rose to Transform Into Seafood Restaurant

The Barbed Rose, the Alvin steakhouse that always seemed to do better on user reviews sites than with critics or bloggers, announced yesterday that it would close at the end of the month. On July 4, the restaurant will reopen as the Coastal Crossing Grill, a seafood restaurant that, according to a press release, will feature "homemade, Gulf Coast fare, from South of the Border to the Florida Keys." Owner Joe Schneider says that the new restaurant will shed The Barbed Rose's reputation of a high-dollar, special occasion option in favor of a more casual, less expensive option. As they put it, "the kind of place you can enjoy a couple of times each week, and not be broke for the rest of the month." Executive Chef Jason Chaney will maintain his oversight over the kitchen.
