MIDTOWN— This Thursday June 7 the Continental Club will celebrate barbecue pitmaster Adam Fisher's birthday from 6 to 10 p.m. In adding to selling Fisher's smoked meat, other venues in the Best Block will offer various deals, including free chips and salsa at Tacos a Go-Go and specialty cocktails at Heatmap destination Double Trouble. PeeWee Stevens and Pops Stewart will play the blues from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m at Natachee's Supper 'n Punch. [Eating Our Words]

DOWNTOWN— Quattro chef Maurizio Ferrarese has introduced his summer menu that blends local Texas ingredients with classic Italian cooking. The menu includes such items as seafood risotto made with Texas Gulf shrimp and bay scallops, ravioli that uses Texas-made goat cheese and a mixed grill of Texas-raised lamb, beef and pork. The menu, which also includes salads that utilizes local produce, contains a notation to indicate when the ingredients in a dish are from Texas.
