MONTROSE— This Sunday should be a memorable one at Anvil. First, from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., LUPEC, the Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails, will host a car wash, bike wash, dog wash and hipster wash in the parking lot. People bringing cars, bikes or dogs may donate an appropriate amount. Hipsters must negotiate on a case-by-case basis. All money raised goes to supporting LUPEC members' fees for educational sessions at the upcoming Tales of the Cocktail convention in New Orleans and to the Museum of the American Cocktail.
That night, bartender Chris Frankel bids farewell to Anvil with a special menu of eight cocktails: four "classics" and four of the originals that earned Frankel such esteem. Each drink costs about $10, and the event should attract a good crowd of fans and well-wishers. [Eaterwire]
RICE MILITARY— Soma Sushi will host Azumapalooza on Thursday July 19 from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. All five restaurants of the Azuma group, including Kata Robata, will serve Asian "street eats" and specialty cocktails.
