MONTROSE— Underbelly will host their second beer dinner on August 16 at 6:30 p.m. Chef Chris Shepherd will create five courses to pair with the Real Ale Mysterium Verum (translation: “Real Mystery”) Series. Four of the beers will be vintage kegs pulled from the Hay Merchant cellar and the last one will be the debut release of the newest Mysterium Verum beer that is expected to be some kind of barrel aged sour. Among the beers poured that night will be a 2010 Kraken (their Sisyphus barleywine aged for 11 months in American and French Oak), Vol. 14 (a barrel-aged 14th anniversary ale) and a vintage keg of Devil’s Share 2010 (a barrel-aged version of their Belgian triple, Devil’s Backbone). MUSEUM DISRICT— LUPEC (Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails) will host a Tales of the Cocktail Kick-Off Party this Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. The menu will feature New Orleans cocktails, since that's where ToTC is held. Also, every Ramos Gin Fizz that's ordered will be handed down the shaker girl line and crowned with beads. There will also be a New Orleans themed food menu that includes head cheese sliders and boudin made by Ghetto Dinner chef Adam Dorris. BELLAIRE— Chef Randy Rucker and sommelier William Meznarich are teaming up for a dinner to be held July 30 at the Ralph Smith Photography studio in Bellaire. Rucker lists a slate of nine luxurious sounding dishes including duck, caviar and foie gras.
