Shepard Ross Brings Brooklyn Athletic Club to Zimm's Little Deck

New, 1 comment

Shepard Ross revealed today that he's taking over the space that has been occupied by Zimm's Little Deck and transforming it into a new concept he's calling the Brooklyn Athletic Club. Ross is the sommelier who originally partnered with chef Lance Fegen in Heights restaurant The Glass Wall and still operates that restaurant. after Fegen left to open BRC and Liberty Kitchen Ross and Fegen are also partners in BRC but are not partners in Liberty Kitchen and will not be partners in the Brooklyn Athletic Club.

In a conversation with CultureMap's Sarah Rufca, Ross discussed his plans for the space, which will open in late September. First, he will expand the back front patio to make room for bocce, badminton, horseshoes and croquet. Then, he'll add a second bar in the rear to allow both self-service and full-service dining options. Finally, he'll transform the menu from Zimm's Creole-influenced cuisine to a mix of American and Italian-influenced fare that will match the "Brooklyn" part of the name. Expect new wine, cocktail and craft beer options as well.
