Fans of the legislative process and food trucks can rejoice now that a (really long) video of yesterday's public hearing regarding the requested changes in current mobile food unit ordinances has posted. What it lacks in production value, it more than makes up for in awkward questioning by council member Andrew C. Burks, Jr..
Among the many gems: Burks hypothesizing the chaos that would ensue should all 939 food trucks permitted in the City of Houston decide to descend upon the neighborhood at once, inaccurately claiming that no one at the last hearing in favor of the changes owned a restaurant in downtown (Kevin Strickland, owner of Ziggy's Bar + Grill spoke) yet stating that "we are for entrepreneurs coming in, creating their own businesses, because that helps our economy...we're definitely for that."
