Yao's, the downtown Chinese restaurant associated with former Rockets' All-Star center Yao Ming, has been chained shut and a lockout notice posted on its door due to non-payment of rent by landlord Midway Management. Eater contacted Yao's other location in Westchase, but a person on the phone said they were "too busy" to comment.
The move comes just after Midway and Canyon-Johnson Urban Funds, coincidentally backed by NBA legend Ervin "Magic" Johnson, assumed control of the Pavilions property in August from receivership.
