More details have emerged on Mockingbird Bistro chef John Sheely's new Italian restaurant that's slated to open in April in the new BBVA Compass building on Post Oak. According to the Houston Examiner's Mike Riccetti, the restaurant will be called Osteria Mazzantini after his Sheely's family. The restaurant will have 130 seats in the dining room and another 80 in the patio.
As for the food, it's also inspired by the chef's Italian heritage. A sample menu shows pasta dishes such as sweetbread ravioli and entrees that include veal osso buco and whole grilled red snapper. Expect entree prices in the $20-30 range, which is just under what diners typically pay at Mockingbird.
