Finally, Backstreet Cafe sommelier Sean Beck offers his thoughts on his favorite bottle of champagne.
1999 Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill - Champagne, France ('90 Vintage is my alltime favorite)Nothing tops vintage Champagne and for me it begins and ends with Pol Roger. This was Winston Churchill's Champagne house of choice. It melds rich aromatics, minerality, old world charm and delicate bubbles in a way that stirs thoughtful contemplation. You'll typically find it or their incredible vintage Rose Champagne on the list at Backstreet. We sell it for around $340 a bottle, not inexpensive, but worth it if you want a beverage capable of creating an actual epiphany.
