With the recent debut of Livin Large on 92.1, Houston is now home to four different radio shows with a food focus that air on Saturdays. Here's a quick guide.
Name: The Cleverley Show
Airs: Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., 650 AM
What: With 650's format flip into Houston fifth sports talk station, Cleverley Stone's show moves to a morning time slot. While she doesn't anticipate the show's format changing, it will maintain an always positive spin from a self-proclaimed "cheerleader" of the Houston food scene, Stone does hope to book the occasional athlete as a guest.
Name: Southbound Food
Airs: Saturday 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., 740 AM
What: Reef chef Bryan Caswell, sports talk host Lance Zierlein, wine guy Frank Bullington and raconteur Danny Vara host this freewheeling show that covers everything from food tv to local restaurant news. Caswell lends an insider's authority, and producer Jenny Wang always books a good mix of local and national guests.
Name: Livin Large
Airs: Saturday 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., 92.1 FM
What: Jack Stevens and Jodie Eisenhardt host this show dedicated to "living the good life." That includes one segment devoted to the local restaurant scene and another devoted to home cooking. Other topics include movies, the art scene and fashion.
Name: Delicious Mischief
Airs: Saturday 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., 1070 AM
What: Food writer John DeMers covers local, regional and national topics on this show that's also syndicated in Austin and Dallas. Airing in more markets gives the show a broader focus. For example, this week's show is about the dining scene in Phoenix.
