Houston Press critic Katharine Shilcutt has news that Delicious Concepts owner Ken Bridge is opening a Mexican restaurant tentatively named El Camino in the space across from Little Woodrows previously occupied by the Redi Room and a Conoco gas station. If it feels like it's Bridge's attempt to create a less threatening, watered down version of El Gran Malo, that would be in line with his other projects, which includes the family friend diner Lola and the non-fat version of Petrol Station known as the Shepherd Park Draught House.
It's fitting that Bridge sees Creek owner Gary Mosley as his inspiration; Mosley's restaurants Onion Creek, Cedar Creek and Dry Creek are watered down versions of hip Austin restaurants.
