Although the owners of New Orleans-style snoball truck MAM'S House of Ice just recently announced their big plans to open a retail shop, they're already planning on a mid-November opening. "We've been looking for a few years now," co-owner Mary Ann McBee tells Eater. "We hated to see people wait an hour to get a snoball, and now we'll have about two to three machines." McBee says they "tried really hard not to go into a strip center because [they] wanted to have green space" so that families could go out, extend blankets on the green and enjoy the outdoor picnic tables.
McBee and business partner Ariana Espinoza will fill the 780-square-foot space at 1040 West Cavalcade with "New Orleans décor and some whimsical snoball fun," what McBee calls a unique mix that represents the Heights. Because the opening will be during colder months, they've decided to add some warm items to the menu. On it will be hot chocolate, coffee and another surprise that McBee says they're planning for opening day.
