El Big Bad Preview Dinner; Beer Dinner in Galveston

DOWNTOWNEl Big Bad is close to opening, but before it does, owners Lea McKinney and Steve Sharma are inviting you to a special preview tasting engagement. The brains behind El Gran Malo and The Dirt have asked consulting chef Randy Rucker and upcoming permanent chef Ben Rabbani to cook a seven-course tasting menu for curious locals who want to know what to expect. The tasting engagement at this downtown restaurant is this Wednesday (October 23), with two seating times: 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Part of the event is an agave harvesting demonstration by Tequila Herradura's Jose Cortes. GALVESTON— Tomorrow (October 22), Brews Brothers in Galveston will welcome Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co. for a five-course beer dinner. Skip the Island by Choice burger (just this once), and join for this beer pairing event. The dinner has been planned out by Troy Witherspoon, formerly of Petrol Station and Craft Infusion, who also wrote most of the restaurant's menu. The dinner begins at 6:30, tickets are $60 and there are only 32 seats available. UPPER KIRBYCove will be hosting a dinner featuring a ten-course menu written by esteemed chef Philippe Gaston this Wednesday (October 23). Some of the menu items include grilled octopus with hearts of palm and langostino bisque with boquerones on toast. Tickets are $85 per person plus tax and gratuity.
