Blacksmith's Thai Pop-Up Dinner; Margarita Festival

DOWNTOWN— For those already in need of a break from Halloween parties, head to Discovery Green for the Houston Margarita Festival this Saturday (October 26) from noon to 10 p.m. Tickets are $100 pre-sale or $150 at the gate; designated drivers who won't be drinking can opt for the $10 tickets instead. See their site for more details and to buy tix. A few Fiesta markets around town still have tickets available, too. [Eaterwire]

MONTROSE— The next Blacksmith by Night pop-up dinner is this Sunday (October 27) night with host PJ Stoops of upcoming eatery Foreign Correspondents. It's likely that this menu, including grilled pork neck and cucumber salad (Phla Muu) and marinated fish with bitter gourd (Pla Chae) may be a preview of what he'll be cooking up at next fall's restaurant. What's almost certain is that the food will be authentically Thai; it's well known that Stoops lived and worked in Thailand for several years. Head to the Montrose coffee shop this Sunday (October 27) beginning at 5 p.m. More info here. [Facebook]

DOWNTOWN— This Saturday (October 26) show off your Halloween costume at downtown's Clutch City Squire for "Ghouls Night Out" featuring a costume contest hosted by The Manichean's Justice Tirapelli-Jamail, drink specials and music all night. It all starts at 9 p.m. CCS is the headquarters, but some surrounding bars will be participating. [Eaterwire]
