It's pretty great to announce the return of a Houston nightlife institution just as we launch our second annual Eater Cocktail Week. So...nice timing, Dean's Credit Clothing. The downtown bar celebrated a soft opening relaunch this past weekend after having shut down for some time. The reopening also comes just in time for this establishment to ride the wave of new downtown bars that are now seeing crowds regularly. Just right around the corner from this spot are OKRA and Batanga. This Thursday (October 31) the bar will begin regular business hours. Of course, costumes are welcome (encouraged, actually).
In charge of the bar is sommelier Chris Morris who's worked at Pass & Provisions and Morton's: The Steakhouse. He'll be in charge of the cocktail selections at this revamped downtown classic. Morris says that the beer list will feature all craft brews and that the "cocktail menu features a dedication to fresh, quality ingredients and homages to the true classic cocktails." According to Morris, the new space features "vintage furniture, artwork of classic Houston, and a 30-foot bar made of reclaimed wood from the current St. Arnold's building." Stop by this Halloween night for its official public opening.
