SCANDAL WIRE— Pottery Barn has managed to offend a lot of people with its goofy sushi chef costumes. The retail chain is pulling the Halloween costumes from its shelves, according to Eater National. A rep for advocacy group Asian Americans Advancing Justice put out a statement saying: "Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are real people who cannot and should not be commodified as costumes." Almost as offensive? The original $59 price tag. [Eaterwire]
SCARY PLATES— In celebration of Halloween, Eater contributor Holly Beretto tells us that Khun Kay Thai Café is serving up the "Khun Kay Khantoke plate, combing a blood-red curry sauce with tender-cooked, chopped Thai pumpkin, a type of squash much like traditional American pumpkin and a choice of beef, chicken or tofu, all for $9.95." [Eaterwire]
UPPER KIRBY— Beretto also tells us that Triniti will feature "a four-course tasting menu in addition to elixirs and Halloween-themed specials like bat wings and Vampachana" this Halloween at 5 p.m. They will also have a DJ starting at 7 p.m. Guests are encouraged to wear their costumes.
