After several unexpected delays, and upon finally receiving their TABC license recently, Good Dog owners Daniel Caballero and Amalia Pferd are opening the doors to their brick-and-mortar shop in the Heights today (November 14). Since they have that new beer license already in hand, they'll have plenty of beer offerings on tap, with an emphasis on Texas breweries. Caballero and Pferd have long been supporters of local craft beer, often catering brewery events and tours around town. The extra space will also allow them to expand their current menu of famous dogs to include sandwiches, salads and the occasional special dish. CultureMap's Eric Sandler reports that some of the new offerings include "a Vietnamese-inspired chicken soup with lemongrass and ginger, a Black Hill ranch-sourced thin-sliced roast beef sandwich and a taqueria Cobb salad." The restaurant's regular hours are Tuesday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Good Dog is the latest food truck to become a retail establishment in the Heights area. Up next are MAM's House of Ice Snoballs, Fat Cat Creamery and the Cat's upcoming neighbor: H-Town StrEATs' doughnut shop.
