Sports fans who have dreamed of a place with uninterrupted game watching and addictive wings will be happy to learn that the long-awaited Houston location of Pluckers Wing Bar is finally set to open. The Austin-based chain is almost as popular for its 19 sauces and kooky menu items—including the Waffles N' Cheese plate and fried Oreos—as it is for its commitment to obsessive game watching. They'll boast over 60 TV screens, some behind the restroom mirrors. The first Houston location will open on Shepherd, just off of Washington—where ill-received Maggie Rita's once stood—on November 25 at 11 a.m.
Owners Mark Greenberg, Dave Paul and Sean Greenberg founded the chain in 1995, when they were freshmen at the University of Texas. Since then, the chain has taken off with locations in Dallas, Baton Rouge and San Marcos. The group has been searching for the right Houston location for a while. "We have so many friends and family in Houston, we were extra discerning and that makes it special," Greenberg said. "It's a food town; people truly appreciate good food and they like their sports—it's our kind of place."
For us, it was the many tipsters asking when this spot would be open that really hinted at just how excited fans have been about the first Houston Pluckers. Those same tipsters will be happy to know the generous hours of operation. The restaurant will be open Sunday through Wednesday and Friday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m.
