Some Galleria-area residents might be surprised to learn that cocktail bar Prohibition is closing to the public at their Westheimer location. The bar announced on it's Facebook page that it would be hosting a "Closing Party" with bottles of champagne, a dinner service and a performance by The Moonlight Dolls. The restaurant and speakeasy known for its burlesque shows and pricey cocktails made the announcement yesterday, one day before Repeal Day (December 5). They're hosting one last party for that celebration, offering patrons discounts tonight.
The bar owners couldn't be reached by phone (the line is down), but a rep for the establishment confirmed via Facebook today that the rumors are true, telling us: "Yes we are closing."
Update: After finding a lease they signed for a building downtown, we contacted their broker who says they're moving. No word yet on whether it will still be Prohibition or a new concept. "Prohibition Bar leased 15k SF at the McCrory Building (1008-1010) Prairie."
