LISTICLES—Zagat lists ten places to eat for under $20. On the list is Fusion Taco: "One of the new wave of Downtowners to move in in the last year is Fusion Taco, which started out as a popular food truck. We couldn't be happier to have them on the Market Square block, especially with an eclectic selection of items like the fried chicken banh mi served with a giant portion of salad for under $10. Everything on the menu is highly craveable." [Zagat Houston]
MONTROSE— Houstonia's Katharine Shilcutt visits Te House of Tea in this Gastronaut post. "The best place to try "real" chai in Houston is at Te House of Tea, where owner Connie Lacobie has been educating Houstonians about tea since opening the shop with her husband Kevin in 2006. Te stocks over 130 varieties of tea, from black to green to oolong to white, and also makes tisanes—uncaffeinated herbal teas (which don't actually include tea leaves). But of the dozens of options at Te, it's Connie's chai that I love best." [Gastronaut]
PEARLAND—The Houston Press shares some cheap lunch spots in Pearland. On the list is King's Biergarten: "Come here for a half-liter of Oktoberfest and some of Houston's best German and Austrian cuisine. Get two sausages -- we love the cardamom-scented weisswurst and richly-spiced, juicy grilled bratwurst, a side (think bacon-studded red cabbage and Austrian potato salad) and a piece of bread for just $8.90. Or try a Weiner schnitzel sandwich ($6.95), stuffed with your choice of ultra-thin, breaded and fried pork or chicken, melted cheese, and all the fixin's." [Houston Press]
