Five Houston chefs are among the competitors in Food & Wine magazine's Best New Chef Southwest voting. They are Seth Siegel Gardner and Terrence Gallivan of The Pass & Provisions, Justin Yu of Oxheart, Kevin Naderi of Roost and Chris Shepherd of Underbelly. For those wondering how Shepherd is eligible for best "new" anything, the criteria state that all chefs who have run their own kitchen for five years or fewer are eligible.
