In a livestream broadcast on Eater National, the James Beard Foundation revealed the finalists for the 2013 James Beard Awards. Houstonians earned nominations in three categories. National has the full list here.
Chronicle restaurant reviewer Alison Cook earned a Craig Claiborne Distinguished Restaurant Review Award nomination for her reviews of Torchy's, Underbelly and Oxheart. MC2 Architects earned a design award for restaurants of 76 seats and over for Triniti. The Houston nominees for Best Chef Southwest are Hugo Ortega of Hugo's, Chris Shepherd for Underbelly.
The journalism awards are May 3 and the chef awards are May 6 in New York City.
