Daniel Vaughn, the man who turned his obsession with driving across Texas in search of the best smoked meat into a book deal with Anthony Bourdain, is now Texas Monthly's first ever Barbecue Editor. In this role, Vaughn will write a weekly column on barbecue topics, which he described to Eater National as, "I want to cover the entire life-cycle of barbecue. Hell, I might even interview my pharmacist."
Vaughn's biggest responsibility will be updating Texas Monthly's once-every-five-years Top 50 Barbecue rankings, which drops in June. Looking for a sneak peak at the new top 5? His rarely issued six star rating might offer some clues.
