Iconic Houston restaurant Pico's Mex-Mex will move expand from its location on Bellaire to the spot on Kirby that held Ninfa's and the quickly shuttered Maggie Rita's. Pico's chef-owner Arnaldo Richards tells Chronicle critic Alison Cook, who originally broke the story, that
He'll keep the menu that has evolved to serve him well over a 29-year run at the original Pico's, but he says he'll be able to expand his seasonal and weekend specials in the new location. That's good news, because Richards' specials during mole, tamale and soft-shell crab seasons are part of what sets Pico's apart. "I might do two or three moles at a time, now," says Richards, "and this will give me he option to extend it to more."
If the remodel, which will begin immediately, go smoothly, the restaurant will open in June.
