Here's a look inside newly opened Mexican steakhouse La Casa del Caballo that's taken over the space on Lower Westheimer formerly occupied by La Strada, Caffe Bello and Don Julio's. The interior has undergone a total transformation with wood used throughout the dining room and red accents. The leather topped bar is another signature design element.

As for the food, the menu blends traditional steakhouse offerings with Mexican dishes. Here's a suggested plan of attack for two people: order a steak and enchiladas and split both dishes. They complement each other nicely and ordering both ensures getting a full serving of the La Casa's refried beans, which are, in the words of one Eater tipster "lardalicious."
