As the nomination process for this year's Eater Young Guns rolls on, Eater National has published the names of the chefs who, along with local and national Eater editors, will help choose this year's class of Young Guns. That group includes two of Houston's most esteemed chefs: Bryan Caswell and Monica Pope. At Reef, Caswell blends a variety of influences to showcase the best of Gulf seafood. Last year, Pope surprised the Houston dining scene when she transformed her signature restaurant t'afia into Sparrow Bar + Cookshop, earning an Eater Award for Stone Cold Stunner.
Over the coming months, this group will put their heads together to identify the most promising up-and-comers in the restaurant and nightlife world, whether they're working as chefs or line cooks, sommeliers or bartenders, restaurateurs, or maître d's.
